This package combines the Bukit Lawang Highlights Packages with an additional soap making workshop, for an authentic experience. This is a community-based tour package aiming to support the local community, traditional activities and women empowerment initiatives. Choose the ethical jungle trekking option that suits you best (from 1 day to 3 days) to explore the Gunung Leuser National Park. After the jungle trek, you'll enjoy a day trip through the surroundings to discover all the highlights of Bukit Lawang: rural villages, rice fields and plantations, traditional productions of tofu and brown sugar, traditional handicrafts such as palm leaves and bamboo weaving but also the unique bat caves. On the eve of your departure, immerse yourself in the Sumatran botanicals & delightful scents with a tour combining a walk through the village and a workshop. Aini, a lovely local entrepreneur, will welcome you at her place and teach you how to make natural soaps using natural oils and selected plants from her garden. For children a fun little toy will be included in the soap! At the end of the workshop enjoy a traditional meal all together with a view on the rice fields! During this tour you'll stay 4 nights at our ecolodge located at the riverside in the most beautiful part of Bukit Lawang. Choose the room option that suits you best. 1 Day Trek, Traditional Village Tour & Bat Caves, Organic Soap Making
On Day 1, get transferred from the airport to Bukit Lawang, explore the area or take a swim and relax at our ecolodge. On Day 2 you'll start your 2D/1N jungle trek through the Gunung Leuser National Park. You'll spend an unforgettable night in the jungle. On Day 3 you'll hike through the rainforest again to look for unique wildlife and you'll come back to the guesthouse between 3 and 5 pm with a fun raft down the river. On Day 4 you'll go on our traditional village tour. In the morning you'll explore the surroundings, stroll among the rice fields, meet local people and assist to the local productions of tofu and brown sugar and a demonstration of bamboo weaving. You'll enjoy a traditional lunch at a nice spot before exploring the amazing bat caves in the afternoon. On Day 5 you'll immerse yourself in the Sumatran botanicals & delightful scents thanks to a tour combining walk and workshop with Aini, a lovely local woman producing natural soaps. Enjoy a fresh herbal drink from the garden before learning how to make natural soaps using natural oils and selected plants from her garden. This tour is a collaboration with our friend Aini, that we are supporting since her beginnings. Aini is an amazing and lovely woman entrepreneur who is making eco-friendly and organic beauty products with ingredients harvested directly from her amazing organic garden, ensuring freshness & naturalness. She is committed to produce beauty products without nasties in order to offer natural and plastic-free alternatives to local people. Her mission definitely resonates with ours so we couldn't help supporting her business! For each trek booked with us, we are using a part of our profits to order some of her organic soaps to give to our guests to make sure they're not harming the environment with chemical soaps while trekking through the jungle and taking shower in the river. We are also ordering several of her products for our guesthouse since the launch of her business. We aim to provide plastic-free jungle treks and reduce the overall plastic use, these soaps were the perfect match to make reduce the plastic packaging waste of guests in Bukit Lawang. We also have a small eco shop at our eco lodge where you can buy some of Aini's amazing organic products!
